REVIVE OUR SOULS AGAIN!
RECONNECTING THE AME CONNECTION
“Will you not revive us again, so that your people may rejoice in you?”
Psalm 85: 5 (NSRVUE)
“In an effort to get the work of the Lord done we often lose contact with the Lord of work.”
-Bishop Richard Allen
We are being pulled in a thousand different directions every day in a polarized global discourse that threatens our very existence. We have been collectively traumatized by many swift transitions.. It is vital that we take a moment to center ourselves on what truly matters: our faith, our communities, and our collective future. This quadrennial focus is more than just a theme. It is a heartfelt call issued by the Council of Bishops to recognize and appreciate the value each of us brings to our Connection and to reconnect deeply with Jesus Christ who is our anchor and guide.
“Revive Us Again- Reconnecting the AME Connection” urges us to strengthen our bonds within our congregations, to uplift one another, and to engage actively with our neighbors. In doing so, we become instruments of the power of God’s love and change in our communities.

Revive Us Again
Reviving our Connection to Jesus Christ
Before we lift up our voices in corporate revival, we must first delve into the depths of our own spirits, seeking that intimate revival which begins within. This year, let us take time to acknowledge what and who we have lost. Let us turn our hearts and minds toward the profound necessity for personal restoration even in our shared grief. Let’s encourage one another to embark on a fresh pilgrimage in our relationship with Jesus Christ, the very author and finisher of our faith.

Revive Us Again
Reviving Our Connection to African Methodism
“We’ve come to worship; we leave to serve” John Wesley
Our quadrennial theme now focuses on reflecting the importance of reconnecting with our roots in African Methodism. The emphasis is not only on remembering our history but actively engaging with it to shape our present and future. It’s inspiring to consider how the legacies of Richard and Sarah Allen, and so many others, continue to influence our mission and vision today.

Revive Us Again
Reviving Our Connection to our Congregations and Communities
Revival begins within the heart, yes, but it radiates outward into our congregations and communities. It calls us to unite in prayer, to lift our voices in worship, and to share our stories of witness and fellowship inside and beyond the sanctuary. As we gather as a global family of Christians, there is an opportunity to create an environment ripe for transformation, one where the Spirit can move freely among us and beyond our sanctuary walls and into the community.

Future facing – Reconnecting to face the future together
The role that the AME Church plays on the global stage is multifaceted. It can be a strong support system for its members congregations and communities. It can offer a theological and biblical framework for ethical and moral decision making rooted in faith. The church can provide spiritual nourishment through worship and the other spiritual disciplines, be a hub of ministry and missional initiatives, advocate for social justice concerns and encourage creative adaptive solutions in facing future challenges. It is also imperative to reach newer generations.
